How much does it cost?
Registration cost will differ for each level and age division within NW Ringette. There can also be a difference in cost if you are a Direct Registrant or an Indirect Registrant. Please see Registration section for more cost related information.
What is the difference between a Direct Registrant and an In-Direct Registrant?
A Direct Registrant are those families who do not live in a community that offers ringette as a Community Sport Program. Therefore you will register directly with NW Ringette Association.
An In-Direct Registrant are those families living in communites that offer ringette as a Community Sport Program, such as Triwood and Huntington Hills. These familes would register directly with their Community Associations. NW Ringette has no control over registration costs or private community membership fees.
How many times per week will my daughter play?
NW Ringette Association tries to supply each team with one - two practice ice times per week with one home game per week. However practice and game ice time can fluctuate with the number of ice times offered for each team per week.
What division will my child be in?
U9 (currently Bunny/Novice) - born in 2001, 2002
U10 (currently Novice) - born 2000
U12 (currently Petite) - born 1998, 1999
U14 (currently Tween) - born 1996, 1997
U16 (currently Junior) - born 1994, 1995
U19 (currently Belle) - born 1991, 1992, 1993
+18 (currently Belle/Open) - born 1991 or earlier
What kind of equipment do I need?
Standard protective hockey equipment is required however ringette approved face masks are mandatory. See Equipment List for full description of equipment.
Where do I purchase ringette equipment?
Many major sport retailers in Calgary sell new and used hockey and ringette equipment. The Ringette Store carries all certified ringette equipment.
Does my child need to know how to skate?
Not necessarily. At all entry level divisions (U12 and under) coaches are prepared to teach all players all the skills of ringette including skating.
